Solution

(a) Solution:
i. These are homogeneous mixture of two or more components in which the constituents are not visible to the naked eye.

ii. Particle size of a solution is smaller than 1 nm.

iii. When a beam of light passes through a solution, the path of light is not visible in it. They dont exhibit Tyndall effect.

Colloid:
i. These are the heterogeneous mixtures whose particles do not settle down if left undisturbed.

ii. Particles of colloids are smaller than those of a suspension but larger than a solution. Hence are in the size range of 1-1000 nm.

iii. Colloids also show the Tyndall effect.

(b) Tyndall effect is the phenomenon by which the path of the light becomes visible due to scattering of the particles. The particles of colloids scatter a beam of light passing through it and make its path visible.
True solutions do not show Tyndall effect. Scattering of light or Tyndall effect is exhibited by colloidal and fine suspension particles.
