Question

A jogger jogs along one length and breadth of a rectangular park. Its dimensions 150 ×120, find the distance and displacement?

Open in App
Solution

Given dimensions = 150m×120m.
It means length =150m and breadth = 120m.
Distance travelled by the jogger = One length plus one breadth of the rectangular park
Distance travelled by the jogger = l + b = 150m + 120m = 270m.
As he starts from a point and reaches at a diagonally opposite point after travelling along one length and breadth. So, his displacement is equal to the diagonal of the rectangular field.

Displacement=l2+b2=(150)2+(120)2

Displacement=192.1m.
