A joint found in ankle, elbow and Knee
Hinge joint
Hinge joint helps in opening and closing of the door. They allow forward and backward movements. It is a common class of synovial joint that includes the ankle, elbow and knee joints. The pivotal joint allows us to bend our head forward and backwards and turn our head right or left. Ball-and-socket joints possess a rounded, ball-like end of one bone fitting into a cuplike socket of another bone. This organization allows the greatest range of motion, as all movement types are possible in all directions like movement in the shoulder and hip joints. Fixed joints permit stability to certain areas of the body, although they do not move. Examples of fixed joints include the joints between the bones in the skull and the joint where the radius and ulna bones meet in the lower arm.
