A king divides his property among his 3 sons such that the eldest son's share is double the second son's share and the share of the second son is triple the third son's share. If the second son gets Rs4000 more than the third, find the value of the total property.

The correct option is B

Rs20000


Let the third son’s share be x.

Then second son’s share =4,000+x

Also given that the share of the second son is triple the third son’s share

4,000+x=3x3x-x=4,0002x=4,000x=4,0002x=2,000

So the second son’s share =4,000+x=4,000+2,000=Rs6,000.

Elder son share=double the share of the second son=2×6,000=Rs12,000.

The value of the total property=2,000+6,000+12,000=Rs20,000.

Hence, option B is the correct answer.
