A kite is in the shape of a square with side 16 cm and an isosceles triangle of base 4 cm and equal side of 6 cm each. It is made up of two colors as shown in the figure. Find the area of each colour used in it.

In the kite,
area of shaded region = area of unshaded region
area of square =16×16=256cm2

area of triangle
a=6cm,b=6cm,c=4cm

s=6+6+42=8cm

area of triangle =8(86)(86)(84)cm2

=8×2×2×4cm2

=128cm2

area of kite =(8+128)cm2=19.31cm2

area of paper of each colour used=19.312cm2=9.65cm2
