A kite is in the shape of a square with side $16$ cm and an isosceles triangle of base $4$ cm and equal side of $6$ cm each. It is made up of two colors as shown in the figure. Find the area of each colour used in it.

In the kite,

area of shaded region = area of unshaded region

area of square $=16\times 16=256c{m}^2$

area of triangle

a=6cm,b=6cm,c=4cm

$\therefore s=\frac{6+6+4}{2}=8cm$

area of triangle $=\sqrt{8(8-6)(8-6)(8-4)}c{m}^2$

$=\sqrt{8\times 2\times 2\times 4}c{m}^2$

$=\sqrt{128}c{m}^2$

area of kite $=(8+\sqrt{128})c{m}^2=19.31c{m}^2$

area of paper of each colour used$=\frac{19.31}{2}c{m}^2=9.65c{m}^2$
