In the given case, the mercury level rises to a temperature between 48℃ and 50℃
There is a 2℃ gap between them and the total number of divisions between them is 10.
Then one small division will read = 2/10 = 0.2 ℃.

So, the reading of the given lab thermometer is (48 + 3 x 0.2) ℃ = 48.6 ℃.
