The graphical representation of the age composition of a specific population is called the age pyramid.

Age groups in human population:

The different age groups are represented by each tier in an age pyramid. The major age groups are pre-reproductive, reproductive and post-reproductive.
Tier 1 represents a pre-reproductive age group.
Tier 2 represents the reproductive age group. The individuals in this population are reproductively mature.
Tier 3 represents a post-reproductive age group.
