A ladder is placed along a wall such that its upper end is resting against a vertical wall. The foot of the ladder is 20 m from the wall and the ladder is making an angle of 60 with the ground. Find the height, upto which the ladder reaches. [2 MARKS]

Let AB be the wall and


AC be the ladder, which is placed against the wall. If foot is 20 m away from the wall i.e. BC = 20 m

Let AB=x

In right ΔABC,

tanθ=ABBCtan 60=x20

x=20×tan 60=203m

=20(1.732)

=34.64 m [1 MARK]
