A lamp is connected in parallel with large inductor. When it is switched off, the bulb momentarily glows brightly before going off. Why?

It's because the
voltage across coil will be resisted to change and will force the voltage to
appear across the bulb or lamp and since it will act as a short circuit in
steady state then , the continuous supply will blow the lamp in some time
