The correct option is D Animal cell
Lysosomes are small vesicles containing hydrolyzing enzymes and surrounded by a single membrane of up to 100nm in thickness. They were discovered by Christian de Duve in 1955 but were named and observed under an electron microscope by Novikoff, 1956. They are formed by Golgi apparatus and contain some 60 different types of hydrolytic enzymes. Lysosomes are a characteristic of animal cells and are useful in metamorphosis (digestion of larval organs), removal of obstructions, intracellular scavenging, osteogenesis, fertilization, etc. Failure of exocytosis or absence of some hydrolytic enzymes causes accumulation of residual bodies in the cells producing various diseases. Thus, the correct answer is option D.
