The beam just misses entering region IV. It means it is striking at the interface at an angle of incidence = critical angle.
For the interface of region III and IV -
θc=sin1(34)
For the interface of region II and III -
n02sin(r)=n06sinθc
sin(r)=13(34)=14
For the interface region I and II
n0sinθ=n02sin(r)
sinθ=12×14=18
θ=sin1(18).
Hence, the answer is sin1(18).
