Question

a light body and a heavy have same momentum. which one has more kinetic energy

Open in App
Solution

The formula for kinetic energy is, K. E. =12mv2=p22m.Since the momenta of the two bodies are the same , so kinetic energy is now influenced by the masses of the two bodies , one lighter and other heavier. Kinetic energy is inversely proportional to the mass of the body in motion, so lighter body will have more K. E. than heavier body.
