A light ray is incident on a transparent sphere of index =2 at an angle of incidence =45o. What is the deviation of a tiny fraction of the ray, which enters the sphere, undergoes two internal reflection and then refracts out into air?

From Snell's law,
M1sinθ1=M2sinθ2
1.sin45°=2sinr1
r1=30°
Here r1=r2=r3=r4=r5=r6=30°
1.sin=2sinr6
sine=12
e=45°
Deviation at Ist surface =ir1=45°30°=15°
Deviation at IInd surface =er6=45°30°=15°
Total deviation =15+15=30
