A line intersects Y-axis and X-axis at the points P and Q respectively. If (2, -5) is the mid-point of PQ, then find the co-ordinates of P and Q.

Let co-ordinates of P (0, y) and

co-ordinates of Q (x, 0).



Mid-point is (2, -5)

$(\frac{x_1+x_2}{2},\frac{y_1+y_2}{2})=(2,-5)$

$\Rightarrow \left(\frac{x+0}{2}\right),\frac{0+y}{2}=(2,-5)$

$\Rightarrow \frac{x}{2}=2;\frac{y}{2}=-5$

$\Rightarrow x=4;y=-10$

So, Co-ordinates of P (0, -10)

and Co-ordinates of Q (4, 0)
