A line segment AB has two points lying on it namely P and Q.
Length of the line is 18 cm. Distance of P from A is 6 cm and that of Q from A is 9 cm.
Find the ratio PQ : PB.
1 : 4
3 : 12
Length AB = 18
PA = 6 cm and QA = 9cm
∴ PQ = QA - PA = 9 - 6 = 3 cm
QB = AB - AQ
QB = 18 - 9 = 9 cm
∴ PB = PQ + QB = 3 + 9 = 12 cm
The ratio PQ : PB = 3 : 12 = 1 : 4
