Question

A liquid seeks its own ........ .

Open in App
Solution

Irrespective of the type of the vessel the height /level of the liquid is the same. This happens because at the bottom,i.e at the long tube, the pressure should be the same.

The pressure at depth h of liquid is given by P=Density×(acc. due to gravity)×h

Density is the same for all of them and so is the acceleration due to gravity. Hence to keep the pressure the same, they attain the same height. So you may force the liquid into whatever shape of vessel you wish, it will always seek to attain its own level
