Question

A longer wire has a higher resistance than a ___ wire of the same thickness and same material.

Open in App
Solution

Higher resistance implies longer wire as Resistance is directly proportional to the length of the wire. R=ρlA, where l is the length of the wire, A is the area of the cross-section of wire and ρ is the resistivity of the material. If the material is kept the same with the same thickness that implies the same cross-sectional area, then the resistance is dependent on the length of the wire.
