(a) The shore is called fatal because the raging storm endangers the life of anyone who would venture into the lake. Lord Ullin’s daughter and her lover are eventually killed by the storm.

(b) Lord Ullin’s wrath changes into wailing because he realises that his daughter is in grave danger and his anger has put her in this situation.
