A machine gun fires a bullet of mass 40 g with a velocity 12 m/ s . The man holding it can exert a maximum force of 144 N on the gun . How many bullets can he fire per second at the most ?

mass of the bulet m = 40gm = 40/1000kg = 0.04kg velocity of each bullet = 12m/sec here, The gun will exert an impulsive force on the man when it will be fired. So, The change in momentum of the bullets coming out per second = force on the man => nMV = F (where n is no. of bullets coming out per sec) => n(0.040)(12) = 144 => n *0.48 = 144 => n = 300 Ans.
