Solution

  • The area A of the rectangle with length l and width w is given by, A=l×w.

Step 1: Substitute l=15, w=24 into the formula A=l×w and find the area of the page.

A=15×24=360cm2

Step 2: The company has decided to order a half-page advertisement, so find the area of half of the page.

3602=180cm2

Step 3: Find the charges for advertising per sq cm.

30010=30/cm2

Step 4: Find the charges for advertising the area of 180cm2.

180×30=5400

Hence, the amount of 5400 the company has to pay for advertisement.
