A magnet NS is suspended from a spring and when it oscillates, the magnet moves in and out of the coil C. The coil is connected to a galvanometer G. Then, as the magnet oscillates :

Solution
The correct option is BG shows deflection to the left and right but amplitude steadily decreases. Since the magnet will perform SHM, its velocity will both increase and decrease as it moves towards and away from the mean position and hence the galvanometer will show deflection on both the sides. Since the amplitude of the magnet (and hence maximum velocity) will decrease due to eddy current losses, the amplitude of deflection will also decrease with time.
