Question

A magnetic needle placed near a wire carrying alternating current does not show any deflection.

Open in App
Solution

The force induced on the needle due to AC current is quite week. This means that the needle when exposed to magnetic field of such strength would move at a slow pace and only if the field is constant. So, a magnetic needle placed near a wire carrying an alternating current does not show any deflection.
