Question

A magnifying glass is what kind of lens, and where do where should I place the lens relative to the object to see an image larger than the object and right-side-up? ("F" stands for the focal length of the lens.)

Solution

A magnifying glass is a convex lens .If we place the object between focus F and C center of lens i.e. u<f .From lens formula ,
v=uf/u+f
since u<f , v will be negative and v>f i.e. image will be formed beyond and on the same side of lens .
From m=v(ive,v>u)/u(ive)>11 and +ive , which means virtual ,magnified and erect image .
