Let no of chickens be ${}^{\prime }{x}^{\prime }$ & roots be $y$ then,

$x+y=30$ ____ (1)

$2x+4y=84$ ____ (2)

solving above 2 equation

$x+y=30$

$x+2y=42$

$y=12$ & $x=18$

$\therefore x:y=3:2$
