A man has to go 50 m due north, 40 m due east and 20 m due south to reach a cafe from his home
(A) What distance he has to walk to reach the cafe?
(B) What is his displacement from his home to the cafe?

Given,

Distance moved in North OA=50m

Distance moved in East AB=40m

Distance moved in south BC=20m

From the figure

Total distance

=OA+AB+BC

=50+40+20

=110m

Total displacement =OC

=DC2+OD2

=402+302

=50m
