Solution

let x be amount invested in the 1st scheme
so, investment in other scheme = (10000 - x)

here the formula of simple interest is taken as the time is 1 year

So, for the 1st scheme I1 = PRT/100 = x*8*1/100 = 8x/100

for the other scheme I2 = PRT/100 = (10000-x)*9*1/100 = 9(10000-x) /100

by question, I1 + I2 = 875
8x/100 + 9(10000-x)/100 = 875
8x/100 + (90000 -9x) /100 = 875
(8x + 90000 -9x) /100 = 875
8x +90000 -9x = 87500
-x = 87500 - 90000
-x = - 2500
x = 2500

hence investment in one scheme = Rs.2500 Ans,
investment in other scheme = 10000-2500 = Rs.7500 Ans
