Solution

Given, Face value of a share of first type = ₹ 100
Face value of a share of 2nd type = ₹ 50
Let the investment be ₹ x.

Shares Type 1:
Investment in first kind of shares = 60% of x = 60x100=35x
No. of shares bought = money investedMarket value of shares
=3x5×1110
= 3x550
Dividend earned = Rate of Dividend × No. of shares × Nominal value of each share
=10100×3x550×100
=₹ 3x55

Shares Type 2:
Investment in second kind of shares = 40% of x
=40x100
= ₹ 25x

No. of shares bought = money investedMarket value of shares
= 2x5×60
= x150
Dividend earned = Rate of Dividend × No. of shares × Nominal value of each share
= 20100×x150×50
=₹ x15

Total dividend Earned =3x55+x15
2000=3x55+x15
2000=9x + 11x5×11×3
2000=20x5×11×3
x= 16500
