Here, x =20 and y =40.
$\therefore$ Overall gain %
$=\left[\frac{100(x+y)+2xy}{(100+x)+(100+y)}\right]\%$
$=\left[\frac{100(20+40)+2\times 20\times 40}{(100+20)+(100+40)}\right]\%=\frac{7600}{260}\%=29\frac{3}{13}\%$
