  1. In case of a plane mirror, the image always forms at a distance from the mirror as our object is present in front of the mirror.
  2. i.e. Distance of object from the mirror = Distance of image from the mirror
  3. In this question, we have given the distance between a man and his image. So, 6 m distance means the plane mirror is placed at 3m away from the man so that image is formed 3 m away from the mirror inside it and the total distance between man and image will be -
  4. 3 m (distance of man from mirror) + 3 m (distance of the image from mirror) = 6m.

Hence, The distance of man from the mirror is 3m.
