Let time taken to ride one way be x and time taken to walk one way be y.
Time taken to walk one way and ride back is 4 hours and 30 minutes or 270 minutes.
Then x+y=270
By riding both ways he would have saved 3 hours.
Therefore,
2y=270180=90
y=45
Therefore time taken to ride one way is 45 minutes
We know, x+y=270
or x=27045=225 Therefore time taken to walk one way is 225 minutes.
Time taken to walk both ways is 2252=450 minutes or 7 hours and 30 minutes.
