A man travels $\frac{3}{8}$ of his journey by train, $\frac{3}{5}$ of its by bus and walks the rest of the distance. If he walks $2km$,how much distance did he travel by bus?

Step 1:- To find the total distance

Let $40x$ be the total distance

Distance travelled by train= $$\begin{gathered} =40x\times \frac{3}{8} \\ =15x \end{gathered}$$

Distance travelled by bus =$$\begin{gathered} =40x\times \frac{3}{5} \\ =24x \end{gathered}$$

Remaining distance =$$\begin{gathered} =40x-(15x+24x) \\ =40x-39x \\ =x \end{gathered}$$

But he walked remaining distance $2km$by walking

⇒ $x=2$

Therefore total distance = $$\begin{gathered} =40\times 2 \\ =80km \end{gathered}$$

Step 2:- To find distance travelled by bus

Distance travelled by bus = $$\begin{gathered} =\frac{3}{5}\times 80km \\ =48km \end{gathered}$$

Therefore, $48km$ distance travelled by bus.
