A man weighing 49kg carries a bag of 2 kg. He climbs to the top of a building 100m tall in 5 minutes. Calculate the work done by the man and the power he develops.

The question was misunderstood,
For calculting the toal work done the weight of the man must be accounted. If only workdone for lifting the bag is required then the weight of the man will not be counted.


Work done is given by

W=F.displacement

Now the toal force here is the weight of the man + weight of the bag
therfore, F= 49+2 =51 Kg
displacement = 100m

W= 51*9.81*100=50031 J

Power Developed = Work Done/ Time
=>Power Developed = 50031/(5*60)=60031/300 =166.77 watt
