The correct option is A FA=FB<FC=FD
The mass M is placed at centre of the square, so its distance from all 4 corners is equal.


In diagrams (A) & (B), the net force on central mass due to diagonal masses 5M and 2M gets cancelled respectively.


So, net force on central mass in (A) and (B) is given as

Fnet=G(3M)(M)r2G(M)(M)r2

Fnet=2GM2r2

Similarly, in figures (C) and (D), the net force experienced due to diagonal masses 5M and 2M gets cancelled.


So, net force on central mass in (c) and (d) is given as
