Initial state :P1=100 kPa, V1=0.3 m3

Final state :P2=100 kPa,V2=0.15m3,

Q=48kJ

Now,

Q12=ΔU+W12(1)

W12=v2v1PdV

=100×(0.30.15)=15 kJ

From eq. (1)

U2U1=48+15=33kJ

Decrease in internal energy=33kJ
