Solution

Length for rod at 20o is 50cm.
When temperature changes to 95oC, length is 50.06 cm.
ΔL=50.0650=0.06cm
and ΔT=9520=75oC
So change is length ΔL=L20×αΔT=50×α×75
0.06=50×α×75 .....(1)
Let the change in length of rod when temperature changes from 20 to 0 be ΔL1 and ΔT=020=20
So ΔL1=50×α×(20) ....(2)
From (1) and (2), we get ΔL1=0.02
Length at 0o is 500.02=49.98cm
