A metal sphere of radius r1 charged to a potential V1 is then placed in a thin-walled uncharged conducting spherical shell of radius r2.Determine the potential acquired by the spherical shell after it has been connected for short time to a sphere by a conductor.

Since metal is an equipotential surface,when the conductor of radius r1 is connected to conductor of radius r2 by a conducting wire,the conductor of radius r2 will also get charged to the potential V1.
