Question

A metalic ring connected to a rod oscillates freely like a pendulum. If now a magnetic field is applied in horizontal diection so that the pendulum now swings through the field, the pendulum will come to rest very soon.(i)What if it was not a complete ring or rather a semicircular part of the ring,then what would have been the case?(ii)How to make it continue its oscillatory motion?
