Question

A metallic cone of radius 12 cm and height 24 cm is melted and made into spheres of radius 2 cm each. How many spheres are formed?

Open in App
Solution

cone volume( v )
v =13πr2h

r = 12... h = 24

v=1/3×3.14×12×12×24v=3617cm3 (decimals neglected)

Now what is the volume of each sphere, and how many can we make...
volume of sphere ( v )
v = 43 π×(r3)

r = 2
v=4/3×3.14×23v=33.5cm3(approx)

so divide total volume by sphere volume
spheres = 3617 / 33.5
spheres = 107.97

so the answer is 108
