A metallic piece gets hot when surrounded by a coil carrying high frequency alternating current. Why ?

Solution

A metallic surface surrounded by coil carrying high frequency current is get heated because of the current flowing in circular path through the metallic surface. These current are eddy current which results in dissipation of electrical energy in to heat energy.
