Refractive index of water (μ)= 43
Separation = 1 cm
From the formulas
Apparent depth (d1) = Real depth (d)\mu
d1 = dμ
Also, Separation = Real depth – Apparent depth
1 = d - dμ
d(1 - 1μ) = 1
d(1 - 34) = 1
d(14) = 1
d = 4 cm
Water should be poured up to the depth of 4 cm.
