Total milk sold $=6L$

$a+2b=24$

$a+b=17$

$(a+2b)-(a+b)=24-17$

$b=7$

$a=10$

$\therefore$ There are $10\left(250ml\right)$ packets and $7\left(500ml\right)$ packets.
