A molecule of an organic compound contains eight atoms of hydrogen. Its empirical formula contains two atoms of carbon , four atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen[C2H4O]. What is its molecular weight ? (Write only the value of the answer - DO NOT write units ) .?*

The empirical formula of the compound = C2H4O
According to the question, the molecular formula of the compound contains 8 atoms of hydrogen which means it is twice the empirical formula.

Hence, the molecular formula is = C4H8O2

Molecular weight of the compound = 4×12 +8×1 +16×2 = 88 g/ mol
