  • The haemoglobin comprises of globin and haem.
  • Globin is the protein chain and haem is the red pigment that gives the blood its red colour.
  • There are 4 protein chains and 4 haems.
  • Each haem has an iron at it’s centre. So with every iron one oxygen molecule can bind.
  • As a result of which every haemoglobin had four oxygen along with them riding in the RBC.
  • And the haemoglobin turns into oxyhaemoglobin.
