As shown in the above diagram, number of possible transitions/emitted wavelengths from (n+i)th energy level to nth level is given by:
=1+2+3..+i=i=i(i+1)2
Solving the above expression for six emitted wavelengths as:
6=i(i+1)2i2+i12=0i=3
Therefore, EX=RH(Z2n2)andEY=RH[Z2(n+3)2]EXEY=XY=(n+3)2n2X/Y=1+3/n
