Solution

The correct option is A Only statement 2 is correct
A monohybrid cross is conducted between two organisms which differ in a single character.

Generally pure lines are considered as parents in a monohybrid cross. Pure lines are homozygous for the character considered in the cross. After crossing the pure lines, the resulting progeny is called F1 generation.

The F1 offspring is heterozygous and displays dominant phenotype

This is because the recessive allele for a particular gene fails to express itself in the presence of the dominant allele. Recessive alleles are expressed only if present in homozygous condition.

The allele responsible for the axial position of the flower is dominant over the allele responsible for the terminal position of the flower.

Hence, when a plant with axial flowers (AA) is crossed with a plant having terminal flowers (aa), the F1 generation plants produce only axial flowers.

Therefore, plants with terminal flowers are not produced in F1 generation.
