Solution

Let speed in still water be x

Speed of boat during upstream journey =x2

Speed of boat during downstream journey=x+2

Time taken for upstream journey =30x2

Time taken for downstream journey=30x+2

According to the given condition,

30x2=30x+2+2

30x230x+2=2

30(x+2x+2)x24=2

60=x24

x2=64

x=8
