A motorbike leaves point A at 1 pm and move towards point B at a uniform speed. A car leaves point B at 2 pm and moves towards point A at a uniform speed which is double that of the motorbike. They meet at 3:40 pm at a point which is 168 km away from A. What is the distance, in km, between A and B?

Converting works into numbers and diagram, we get



Time travelled by A(before meeting)=2 hours 40 min=2.66 hours
Distance covered = 168 km (given)
Speed of A = 1682.66 = 63.15
Speed of B = 2×63.15 = 126.31
Time travelled by B (before meeting) = 1 hour 40 min = 1.66 hours
Distance covered by B = 126.31×1.66 = 209.68
Therefore, total distance between A and B = 209.68 + 168 = 377.68 ≈ 378
