A motorcycle is going on an over-bridge of radius R. The driver maintains a constant speed. As the motorcycle is ascending on the over-bridge, the normal force on it
Increases
Lets take 3 points on the ascending side of the circular bridge
The motorcycle is going with constant velocity.
So it will have a centripetal acceleration of v2R always
⇒ At A: mg cos θ2 − NA = mv2R
NA=mg cosθ2 − mv2R ......... (i)
Similarly
NB=mg cosθ2 − mv2R ......... (ii)
NC=mg − mv2R ( at topmost point ) ....... (iii)
θ2>θ1
So cos θ2 < cos θ1
now comparing all 3 equations we get
NC > NB > NA
So as the motorcycle is going up, the normal on it by bridge is increasing.
