A motorcycle weighs 1200 N. If the pressure exerted by one Tyre is 120 Pa, then find the area of tire in contact with the road.

Given: F = 1200 N,
Pressure exerted by 1 tyre = 120 Pa
∴ Pressure exerted by 2 tyre = 120 × 2 = 240 Pa

We know that,
P = F ÷ A
∴ A = F ÷ P = 1200 ÷ 240 = 5 m²
Area of tyres in contact with road = 5 m²

Now area of each tyre in contact with the road = A ÷ 2 = 5 ÷ 2 = 2.5 m².
