Solution

The Given pair of linear equation is :
x-y=2x-y-2=0(1)x-y=4x-y-4=0(2)
On comparing with standard form of pair of linear equations a1x+b1y+c1=0anda2x+b2y+c2=0
a1=1,b1=-1,c1=-2a2=1,b2=-1,c2=-4
Now,

a1a2=11,b1b2=-1-1=11,c1c2=-2-4=12

Since,

a1a2=b1b2c1c2

Thus is the criteria of parallel lines.

Hence, the lines representing the pair of linear equations are parallel lines.

Thus, the motorcyclists are moving parallel to each other either in the same direction or in opposite directions.
